Based on the bestselling novels by Brandon Sanderson and powered by story- and character-driven gameplay, the Mistborn Adventure Game lets you explore, command, or liberate the oppressed world of Scadrial, battle the Lord Ruler's Inquisitors, and master the primal forces of Allomancy, Feruchemy, and Hemalurgy. The game features official fiction from Brandon Sanderson and loads of source material, making it a tremendous resource for fans of the novels and those who want to experience the Final Empire firsthand.
The Mistborn Adventure Game is a d6-based dice pool system with a strong narrative emphasis. Fans of games like Fate, Savage Worlds, and Storyteller should feel right at home, and may recognize many core assumptions throughout. Characters from any background can contribute strongly, whether they have magic or not.
The trouble-free dice system supports, rather than impedes, your fun. In a Challenge, Contest, or Conflict, you build a pool of dice according to your Attributes, Powers, or Standing ratings, then grow or shrink the pool based on your Traits, Tools, Circumstances. You roll your dice and count the number of results that beat a Difficulty number. This gives an Outcome from 6 (Godlike) to -6 (Catastrophic); the best and worst Outcomes are only possible through magic, use of "Nudges" (story-driven adjustment points), and in special cases. Negative Outcomes can impose Complications. The Social and Mental Conflict rules support tactics like Honor Duels and Tests of Will.
Magic is pervasive in the world of Scadrial, influencing finance, manufacture, state affairs, and all walks of life. There are three known forms of magic in the Final Empire, each employing up to 19 different metallic elements and alloys: Allomancy, in which the metal is ingested and "burned" to create fantastic effects; Feruchemy, which lets a user store qualities or abilities in metallic objects to be withdrawn later; and Hemalurgy, wherein metallic spikes are used to steal the qualities or abilities of another, passing them along when the spikes pierce the user's body. The 112-page "Treatise Metallurgic" section of the Mistborn Adventure Game gives you all the rules, spells, and metals you need to create stories at your gaming table that match the magic in Brandon Sanderson's novels.
