The three "Era" supplemental rulebooks for John Carter of Mars provide rules and Narrator advice that support the themes and tone of the three different epochs Edgar Rice Burroughs depicts in the 11-novel Martian sequence.
Dotar Sojat Era by Jack Norris and Jason Brick (137pp, retail price $15): "Dotar Sojat" was John Carter's name among the Tharks. This era of Carter's earliest adventures on Mars is chronicled in A Princess of Mars. Many nations of Barsoom are in constant conflict. The Dotar Sojat Era sourcebook presents character options for red Martians, green Martians, and Earthborn; new Narrator characters, those most beloved and despised of the era; strange technology, powers, and places; and expanded rules for designing airships and taking them into battle, plus a selection of pre-made ships.
Prince of Helium Era by Jack Norris, Jason Brick, Devinder Thiara, Peter Wright, and Virginia Page (137pp, retail $14): In this period, chronicled in Gods of Mars and Warlord of Mars, Carter marries Dejah Thoris and becomes a Prince of Helium. For about nine Earth years Carter has mostly undocumented adventures and experiences. Helium rises to prominence, and the Thark horde develops good relations with Carter's adopted nation. The Prince of Helium Era sourcebook presents character options for Okar, First Born, and white Martians; new optional rules for using supporting characters, as well as legacy and troupe play; and expanded rules for duelling and honor, including personal duels and duelling styles.
Jeddak of Jeddaks Era by Matt Miller, Jack Geiger, Jack Norris, Jason Durall, and Virginia Page (137pp, retail $14): This period covers the later novels in the Barsoom series, when Carter is well-established as the great unifying warlord of Mars. New heroes appear, such as Ulysses Paxton, Carthoris, and Thuvia of Ptarth. New character options cover Kaldanes and their Rykors, Morgors, Savators, Masenas, and Kangaroo Men. New optional rules let you create characters with exploratory and scientific backgrounds whose inventions can change the face of your campaign.
